Trying a little kindness

Home Instead Senior Care Director, Myles Beaufort, in light of Covid-19, has created a positive social movement and online support platform NOKCA – Naturally Occurring Kind Communities Australia.

The initiative aims to fight this pandemic through the power of community and co-operation whilst keeping social distancing and clinical safety a top priority.

NOKCA provides information and resources to help communities function in a better way and support one another during this pandemic.

They encourage and provide members with information to partake in acts of kindness which can include anything from shopping for each other or making fabric face masks and delivering them to the vulnerable to hosting local online comedy and music nights.

The team has also created printable signs for frontline and shift workers to stick on their front door so that they can have peace and quiet while they sleep during the day.

The first NOKCA community has been established in West End Brisbane, with over 100 members who are volunteering to support one another through this challenging time.

NOKCA is looking for individuals to act as coordinators and help establish more local groups around Australia.
