Football for all with New Farm United

The girls of New Farm United Soccer Club pulled out their best stepovers, cuts and fakes as they shared the park with Brisbane Roar players for a morning of female-focused football.

Early on the morning of Saturday March 7, teams rolled up in their red and green to celebrate Female Football Week.

A free skills and coaching session saw the club’s junior members mixing it with Georgina Worth, Winona Heatly and Anna Margraf from the W League competition.

Club President Paul Panebianco said female representation has improved in football broadly, as well as at New Farm United.

“Women’s football is growing; we’ve seen a 25% increase in women’s registration,” Mr Panebianco said.

“Our goal is for gender parity at the club.”
